Exhilarating Spectacle: Proud Indonesian Marching & Band Contingents to Dazzle at Republic Day Parade – Northeast News
Indonesian participation will notably enrich the 76th Republic Day Parade in India, set to take place in 2025. This event marks a historic moment as it will be the first instance of an Indonesian marching and band contingent, including 160 marching members and a 190-member band, participating in a national day parade outside their country. This cultural exchange strengthens the diplomatic relationship as both nations celebrate 75 years of bilateral ties.
President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia is designated as the chief guest, signifying his inaugural visit to India as president from January 25 to 26. He becomes the fourth Indonesian leader to grace the Republic Day celebrations, following in the footsteps of Sukarno, Indonesia’s first President, who was the esteemed guest at India’s inaugural Republic Day event in 1950.
The theme for Republic Day 2025, “Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India – Heritage and Development), underscores India’s dual emphasis on its cultural legacy and its forward trajectory of development. The celebrations at Kartavya Path will feature 300 cultural artistes playing a harmonious rendition of ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ on a diverse array of traditional Indian wind and percussion instruments, illustrating the country’s rich musical heritage.
Complemented by contingents of the Indian armed forces, this elaborate display will also include 31 tableaux, comprising 16 from various states and Union territories and 15 from central government ministries and organizations, all reflecting the commemorative theme. The ceremonial finale will be marked by an impressive flypast involving 47 aircraft, providing a fitting conclusion to the event.
The Republic Day Parade serves as a poignant reminder of India’s adoption of its Constitution on January 26, 1950, and continues to be a grand celebration of India’s diverse heritage and its aspirations for the future. With President Subianto as the chief guest, the ceremony underscores a shared commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and cultural understanding between India and Indonesia.
