Stunning Victory: Authorities Triumph with Rs 2 Crore Heroin Seizure in Major South Salmara-Mankachar Drug Raid
In a landmark operation, the South Salmara-Mankachar district police seized the largest heroin consignment in the region’s history. Acting on confidential intelligence, a team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Pratap Das and Deputy SP Anshul Sarma executed a nighttime raid on January 21, 2025, in Kathalbari, under Mankachar Police Station.
The raid uncovered 252 grams of heroin, meticulously hidden in 23 soap cases and stored within a ceiling compartment at the residence of Nur Islam, aged 36. Valued at approximately Rs 2 crore on the black market, the heroin was wrapped in black plastic bags and placed in a carton. Although authorities apprehended Mulukjan Nessa, the 30-year-old wife of Nur Islam, at the scene, Nur Islam himself managed to escape, prompting an ongoing search for his whereabouts. Additionally, police confiscated two smartphones and several documents belonging to him.
The dramatic seizure was rigorously documented through videography, with independent witnesses ensuring transparency. A formal First Information Report (FIR) has been recorded under Mankachar Police Station’s General Diary Entry No. 21, dated January 21, 2025. Legal proceedings are actively progressing.
This significant bust underscores the police’s unwavering commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the area. The operation stands as a testament to their meticulous planning and execution, reflecting a broader resolve to tackle the menace of narcotics in the region.
