Shark Tank India 4: Awe-Inspiring Win for The Royal Opera House Restoration Brand – Ritesh Agarwal Strikes Historic Deal Amid Anupam Mittal’s Playful Banter!
On a recent episode of Shark Tank India, the Savani family, led by Shantilal J. Savani and his kin, Ram and Jagrut, unveiled their esteemed enterprise, Savani Heritage Conservation. Rooted in Mumbai, this family business has been devoted to revitalizing India’s heritage sites for over three generations. The company’s origin traces back to Shantilal, a humble mason who laid the foundation for its monumental success from the ground up. Over time, the Savanis have become a prominent name in heritage restoration, turning their legacy into a revered cornerstone of the industry.
During their pitch, the Savani family sought an investment of Rs 3 crore for a mere 1% equity, valuing their company at Rs 300 crore. Anupam playfully commented on the hefty valuation, humorously suggesting he’d join the family. Meanwhile, Vineeta light-heartedly quipped about them needing to restore her first. The family revealed a major portion of their work, 85-90%, comes from government commissions, with the remainder from private clients. Ram emphasized a key challenge in the sector: while many invest in restoration, maintenance is often overlooked. They elaborated on projects like the restoration of Uparkot Fort in Junagarh, Gujarat.
The Savanis boasted an impressive revenue of Rs 124.7 crore, marking a record for Shark Tank India. However, discussions took a turn when Anupam doubted the alignment of their financials, suggesting possible transparency issues. Consequently, Kunal Bahl and Namita Thapar withdrew, citing a lack of expertise in the sector. Ritesh, however, proposed an offer of Rs 1 crore for 1% equity plus Rs 2 crore in debt at 10% interest, which evolved into a finalized agreement of 0.8% equity. Ritesh expressed his exultation in closing Shark Tank India’s highest valuation deal. Despite reservations, Anupam, recalling his father upon seeing Shantilal, opted out, leaving Ritesh to celebrate this historic investment.
