Experience the Enchantment: Tripura’s Kharchi Puja Dazzles at Republic Day Parade in New Delhi
Tripura is set to participate in the Republic Day tableau rally in New Delhi, showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity with a focus on Kharchi Puja. Celebrated at Agartala’s Chaturdas Devta Temple, Kharchi Puja is a week-long Hindu festival honoring the 14 deities significant to the Tripuri dynasty.
This year, Tripura’s tableau will be positioned at the 19th slot among 26 displays. A senior Tripura government official highlighted that the state’s presentation will be crafted to blend tradition with modernity. It will feature bamboo designs, technological elements, and models in traditional dress, reflecting a synergy of ancient customs and contemporary innovations.
The tableau will depict the worship rituals of the 14 deities using bamboo and cane artistry, alongside a homage to Ha-Buma, or earth mother. Included will be performances showcasing Tripura’s historical spirituality and cultural presentations.
The official also noted an aesthetic element, combining modern art with traditional forms, including bamboo and floral designs. A priest will be shown performing traditional rituals, underscoring the region’s cultural heritage.
This event is a broader cultural platform featuring varied presentations from both central and state entities, such as the Ministries of Social Justice, Tribal Affairs, Women and Child Development, New and Renewable Energy, Rural Development, Earth Sciences, Animal Husbandry, and more, along with states including Goa, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and others.
Tripura’s tableau aims to spotlight its unique cultural narrative while contributing to the national showcase of India’s diverse traditions and growing advancements.
