Empowering Equality: PM Modi Hails Transformative Impact of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Movement
New Delhi, Jan 22: As the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative reaches its 10-year milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the program on Wednesday for its significant strides in addressing gender biases and promoting education for girls. In a series of posts on social media platform X, PM Modi celebrated the initiative’s impact, stating, “Today we mark 10 years of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao movement.” He highlighted its role as a transformative, community-driven effort that spans across diverse sectors of society.
The Prime Minister emphasized BBBP’s achievements in fostering gender equality and enhancing opportunities for girls. He noted the initiative’s instrumental role in challenging gender biases and establishing an environment conducive to girls’ education and dream attainment.
Acknowledging the contributions of communities and organizations across the nation, PM Modi remarked on the positive changes in child sex ratios, particularly in historically low-reporting districts. He attributed these advancements to widespread awareness campaigns that have underscored the importance of gender equality.
PM Modi further urged ongoing dedication to empowering India’s daughters, acknowledging the efforts of all stakeholders at the grassroots level. He encouraged continued focus on safeguarding girls’ rights, ensuring their education, and cultivating a society free of discrimination. “Together, we can ensure that the coming years bring even greater progress and opportunity for India’s daughters,” he stated.
Launched on January 22, 2015, BBBP aims to combat the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR), prevent gender-biased sex-selective practices, and advance the survival, protection, and education of girls. It has evolved into one of the Indian government’s most impactful social initiatives, garnering significant public support. Now part of Mission Shakti, a comprehensive women’s safety and empowerment program, BBBP employs a multi-sectoral approach integrating health, education, child development, and community awareness. Over the past decade, the initiative has expanded through collaborations across multiple ministries, driving positive attitudinal shifts toward gender equality in India.
