Guwahati: In a major development, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced a significant upgrade to its train operations, focusing on enhanced speed and safety measures. The Chief Public Relations Officer at Maligaon confirmed that the NFR has eliminated or adjusted 10 Permanent Speed Restrictions (PSRs) as part of a concerted effort to improve sectional speeds and punctuality as of December 2024.
The initiative aims to provide faster and more reliable passenger services by increasing speeds on loop lines and removing previous bottlenecks. Key engineering efforts have included refining track geometry, mitigating curvature, and leveling bridges to eliminate abrupt gradient shifts.
