Massive Rs 292 Crore Boost Ignites Transformation for Morigaon Industrial Estate | Guwahati News
In a recent decision-making session held in Guwahati, the Assam cabinet approved development projects valued at Rs 292 crore. These initiatives are part of a tradition aimed at transforming the host district, which in this instance was Morigaon. Among the approved projects are the construction of a road connecting Balimukh to Sildubi via Bhuragaon, an enhanced drainage system for Morigaon town, a new circuit house, and a stage for the Junbeel Mela area. Additional developments include finalizing the pavilion in Khirod Barua Stadium, a memorial and an auditorium named after Ilaram Das Baap, a guest house at Mikirbhata, and the construction of the Tiwa Sahitya Sabha Bhawan and Kapahera stadium.
Moreover, there are plans to upgrade nine schools and eight significant colleges in the district, all over a century old. A new industrial estate is slated to be developed over 1000 bighas in Morigaon, reflecting a strategy to boost local economic activity.
Furthermore, the cabinet sanctioned an increase in the government’s share capital in Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited from Rs 3000 crore to Rs 6000 crore, signaling a strengthened commitment to bolstering the state’s power infrastructure.
These decisions underscore the Assam government’s focus on infrastructure, education, and industrial growth as a means of elevating the standards and potential of its districts, with Morigaon as the latest beneficiary.
