Globally recognized for her standout performance in “Dune: Prophecy,” Tabu is now set to dive back into the realm of horror comedy with her latest venture, “Bhooth Bangla.” Announced via her Instagram post, Tabu shared an intriguing snapshot featuring a clapboard bearing the title, “Balaji Telefilms Ltd Presents Bhooth Bangla,” surrounded by lit candles. Her playful caption, “Hum yahan bandh hain (we are trapped here),” builds anticipation for the project. She acknowledged director Priyadarshan and her co-stars Akshay Kumar, Jisshu Sengupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi, along with music maestro Pritam.
“Bhooth Bangla” sees Tabu revisiting a familiar genre. She memorably portrayed the eerie twins Manjulika and Anjulika in the 2022 hit “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,” and drew audiences into the supernatural world in Rohit Shetty’s 2017 success “Golmaal Again.” Tabu’s collaboration with Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan brings a dash of nostalgia—both contributed significantly to the original “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” released in 2007. An excited fan remarked on Instagram about the potential meeting of her character, Manjulika, with Akshay’s iconic Dr. Aditya Shrivastava from the previous films.
This latest project also marks several exciting reunions for Tabu. She has a rich history of collaborations with Priyadarshan in films like the critically acclaimed “Virasat” (1997) and the celebrated comedy “Hera Pheri” (2000). Her association with Akshay dates back to the mid-90s, including films like “Tu Chor Main Sipahi.” Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi recently showcased their chemistry in the 2023 Netflix thriller “Khufiya.” Likewise, the Priyadarshan-Akshay duo is renowned for delivering box-office hits.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, “Bhooth Bangla” is set to charm audiences when it hits theaters on April 2, 2026. With an electrifying blend of classic collaborators and a beloved genre, the film promises to be a fresh yet nostalgic cinematic experience.
