Tragic Discovery: Missing Assam Student Found Dead in Barak River – Murder Suspected
The body of Purnachandra Barman, a student from Silchar GC College’s Arts Department, was discovered a week after his disappearance. Locals found his decomposed remains on Tuesday in the Barak River near Katigorah, Cachar. Barman, a resident of Uzan village in Borkhola, went missing on the night of December 31 after leaving his rented home on Chengkudi Road around 11 PM. Despite a police report and extensive search efforts, he remained missing until this tragic discovery.
Family members have identified the body, which has now been sent for a post-mortem examination at Silchar Medical College Hospital. Early investigations suggest foul play, with police suspecting that Barman may have been murdered and his body dumped in the river. Authorities are actively investigating to determine the exact events leading to his death.
In an apparently unrelated case, Abhishek Choudhury’s body was found under mysterious circumstances in room 310 of Hotel Nandan in Tinsukia on the same night Barman disappeared. Police discovered two syringes and containers at the scene, raising suspicions of foul play. Like Barman’s case, Choudhury’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and investigations are underway to establish the cause of death.
These incidents have stirred concerns and highlight the urgency for thorough investigations to uncover the truth behind these mysterious deaths.
