Empowering Change: Over 8.69 Lakh Voters Registered for 2025 as Inspiring Surge of Female Voters Outnumbers Males
Mizoram Sees Rise in Voter Registration for 2025
AIZAWL: Mizoram’s electoral rolls for 2025 reveal a notable surge in voter registration, with the state now boasting 869,813 registered voters. This update, released by the state’s chief electoral officer, marks an increase of 13,516 voters since the 2024 revision. Analysis of the data underscores a significant gender disparity: there are 28,037 more female voters than male voters, with 448,925 females and 420,888 males on the rolls.
Mizoram is composed of one Lok Sabha seat, one Rajya Sabha seat, and 40 assembly constituencies, making its political landscape both diverse and dynamic. Aizawl, the capital, features prominently, hosting 12 assembly constituencies and a commanding voter base of 292,115 individuals. Of this total, 136,350 are male and 155,765 are female, reaffirming the broader trend of female voter predominance.
Conversely, Hnathial district, located in the southern region of the state and represented by a single assembly seat, reports a modest voter count of just 16,436. These figures reflect the varied political engagements and demographics across Mizoram’s districts.
As the state prepares for upcoming electoral challenges, these shifts in voter registration highlight changing socio-political dynamics and underscore the importance of understanding regional variations in voter demographics. Mizoram continues to advance its democratic engagement, setting the stage for the 2025 elections with a growing and increasingly active electorate.
