British rock band Coldplay is all set to electrify audiences in Ahmedabad with performances scheduled for January 25 and 26, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium as part of their “Music of the Spheres” world tour. This marks the band’s return to India after a nine-year gap, and due to overwhelming demand, an additional concert was added to the Ahmedabad leg, making it two shows in the city. Coldplay’s return is eagerly awaited by fans, given the tremendous response that led to the expansion of their Indian itinerary.
In a recent development, Coldplay and their frontman Chris Martin have received a notice from the authorities in Ahmedabad. The notice stipulates that children should not be involved in any capacity on stage during the concerts. Moreover, it mandates that young attendees must have earplugs or hearing protection, addressing concerns over potential hearing damage from loud music. These directives arose from a complaint by Pandit Rao Dharnevar, a Sociology professor from Chandigarh, who raised alarms about the potential adverse effects of loud sounds on children’s physical and mental well-being.
To comply with local regulations, the band has also been instructed to maintain noise levels below 120 decibels. The District Child Protection Unit in Ahmedabad has explicitly warned Coldplay that failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in stringent actions.
Ticket sales for the newly announced show were organized through BookMyShow with a virtual waiting room set up to manage the massive demand. Despite early access, fans were reminded that it wouldn’t guarantee priority in the queue and were limited to booking a maximum of four tickets.
Aside from Ahmedabad, Coldplay will also perform at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 20. With preparations in full swing, Coldplay is gearing up to make their much-anticipated presence felt across India.
