USTM NSS Volunteer Triumphs with Passion: Secures Spot in Vikshit Bharat National Championship 2025!
Guwahati, Jan 4: Student volunteers from the NSS Cell at the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) have been contributing actively to a critical national initiative organized by the Government of India. Among these dedicated volunteers, Ms. Teihun Makri has distinguished herself by advancing to the final round of the Vikshit Bharat National Championship. She will represent Meghalaya at this prestigious event, scheduled for January 11th and 12th, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. During the event, Ms. Makri will present her vision for “Vikshit Bharat” to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
A postgraduate student in the Department of Botany, Ms. Makri excelled in the competition’s rigorous selection stages, focusing on “Enhancing Productivity through Agriculture.” Her preparation was supported by the expertise of Dr. Moutushi Dey and Dr. Amilia Nongbet, who provided valuable guidance on data collection methodologies.
The NSS Cell at USTM played a pivotal role by offering unwavering support throughout Ms. Makri’s journey, ensuring the timely submission of all necessary documents to the government system. Dr. Nibedita Paul, Program Coordinator of the NSS Cell, expressed gratitude towards USTM’s Hon’ble Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof. G. D. Sharma, the Regional Directorate of NSS, and the State Nodal Officer of Meghalaya for their continual encouragement and support.
She also extended the university’s best wishes to Ms. Makri for her remarkable achievement and for representing USTM at a national level. The Vikshit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 marks a reimagined edition of the National Youth Festival, inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision to engage 100,000 young leaders in leadership roles.
The event includes a four-stage selection process, culminating in national-level presentations where finalists like Ms. Makri will present directly to the Prime Minister. The program also features plenary sessions with national and global leaders, an exhibition of youth initiatives, and cultural performances under the theme “Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi.”
