Gujarat has once again secured its place in the “Achievers” category, recognized as the top-performing group in the LEADS 2024 rankings. Announced by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the rankings assess states on logistics infrastructure, approval processes, and various promotional initiatives. This accolade was accepted by Banchha Nidhi Pani, CEO of the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB).
The LEADS report, unveiled in New Delhi by Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal, and Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Commerce & Industry, underscores Gujarat’s stellar performance. Historically, Gujarat claimed the number one spot in the LEADS index during the years 2018, 2019, and 2021. For the past three years, the Ministry has categorized states into “Achievers,” “Fast Movers,” and “Aspirers,” with Gujarat consistently categorized as an “Achiever” in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
According to the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board, the state has consistently pursued policy-driven growth in investments and infrastructure. Notably, it was among the pioneering states to introduce a sector-specific Logistics Policy in 2021, spearheaded by Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary of the Industries and Mines Department. To bolster skill development in the logistics sector, Gujarat also offers specialized courses through dedicated colleges and institutes.
Furthermore, Gujarat has embraced automation and digital solutions to streamline operations. Initiatives such as the Port Operations and Financial Management System, Vahan 4.0, PM Gati Shakti Gujarat, and the Investor Facilitation Portal exemplify its commitment to innovation. These advancements aim to enhance efficiency and ease for stakeholders, solidifying Gujarat’s leadership in logistics.
Overall, Gujarat’s strategic emphasis on logistics policy, infrastructure, and digital initiatives continues to maintain its impressive ranking in the LEADS report, underscoring its role as a logistics powerhouse in India.
