Exciting Milestone: Arunachal Deputy CM Chowna Mein Unveils Pivotal Infrastructure Near Indo-China Border
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein recently inaugurated two significant projects near Mechukha, close to the Indo-China border, highlighting the region’s evolving development and cultural heritage. The inauguration featured India’s tallest prayer wheel, the Dorjee Sempa Khorchen, along with the NCDS Multipurpose Building. Distinguished guests, including Minister of Education and Tourism Passang Dorjee Sona, attended the event.
The Dorjee Sempa Khorchen was dedicated to the memory of the late Pasang Wangchuk Sona and his wife Rinjin Drema Sona. Consecrated by Rev. Dzogchen Ganor Rinpoche, this monumental prayer wheel encompasses 1.6 billion prayers and 16 Dungyur scrolls, each bearing 10 crore prayers. Deputy CM Mein extended New Year greetings and praised the late Sona’s contributions, applauding Minister P.D. Sona for his leadership in combining development with cultural preservation.
Mein underscored the importance of preserving Mechukha’s unique heritage and highlighted the Dorjee Sempa Khorchen’s potential to attract tourists and pilgrims. The NCDS Multipurpose Building, a three-story facility with guest accommodations, a meditation hall, and other amenities, is expected to boost local cultural and infrastructural resources.
Apart from these inaugurations, Mein laid foundation stones for projects aiming to enhance tourism and connectivity, such as the Mechukha Adventure Park, a Convention Hall, and a motorable suspension bridge over the Yargyapchu River. Plans to explore a small hydropower project were also announced, addressing local energy needs.
Minister P.D. Sona expressed gratitude for the contributions to constructing the prayer wheel and reaffirmed its role in enriching the spiritual life of Mechukha’s residents. The event, graced by various dignitaries, marked an important milestone in advancing Mechukha as a focal point of tourism and spirituality, envisioning a prosperous future for the area.
