Delhi Police Intensifies Crackdown on Bangladeshi Infiltrators: A Bold Stand for Security
New Delhi, Jan 3: In a significant crackdown on illegal immigration, Delhi police have arrested four more individuals, including a couple, as part of a cross-border nexus involving Indian and Bangladeshi nationals. This syndicate allegedly facilitated the illegal settlement of Bangladeshi immigrants in India. The couple, identified as Hosen and his wife, reportedly entered India through the porous border in Meghalaya with assistance from two Indian nationals.
DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan revealed that the investigation led authorities to Aminur Islam from Goalpara, Assam, who was instrumental in transporting illegal immigrants from the Meghalaya border to Assam. Islam’s arrest subsequently led to the capture of Ashish Mehra from Haryana, who was responsible for producing fake Aadhaar cards for the Bangladeshi couple.
The police have intensified their efforts to dismantle this elaborate network, which has been operational across multiple states. The syndicate used a clandestine route known as the “donkey route” for illegal immigration, allowing individuals to traverse long distances to enter India. The first module of this operation ran from Durgapur in Bangladesh to Baghmara, India, led by Anish Shaikh. Subsequent modules were tasked with moving infiltrators to Assam’s Krishnai and then to Kolkata.
Key roles were played by Shaikh’s wife, Sapna, who managed the transit of immigrants to Delhi. The creation of counterfeit Indian documents was overseen by Mehra, with websites like jantaprints.site and Bharat Seva facilitating the production of fake IDs. The police have seized numerous documents, including PAN cards and bank accounts, and are investigating further.
Since the commencement of this operation, more than 1,500 individuals have been identified, and about 30 deportations have taken place. To strengthen the crackdown on illegal immigration, plans are underway to enhance the Bangladeshi Cell within all police stations in the Southern Range, as stated by Sanjay Kumar Jain, Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range).
