OnePlus is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated smartphone, the OnePlus 13R, renowned as the “flagship killer,” at an event on January 7. Debuting alongside the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus Watch 3, the OnePlus 13R is projected to be a top contender in the premium mid-range category this year.
Expected specifications indicate that the OnePlus 13R will feature a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO AMOLED display, boasting an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits and 2,160Hz PWM dimming. It will be protected by Oppo Crystal Shield Glass. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor coupled with the Adreno 750 GPU, potentially equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The camera system on the OnePlus 13R could see improvements over the Ace 5 Pro’s setup, including a 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and the possible replacement of the 2MP macro sensor with a telephoto lens. A 16MP front-facing camera is also expected.
Notably, the OnePlus 13R may come with an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance and an advanced in-display ultrasound fingerprint sensor. While the Ace 5 Pro offers a 6,100mAh battery in China, the Indian variant might have a slightly smaller capacity, similar to recently released models like the iQOO 13 and Realme GT 7 Pro. The phone is predicted to run on the latest OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15.
Pricing for the OnePlus 13R is anticipated to be higher than its predecessor due to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and various enhancements. The starting price in China for the 12GB RAM/256GB model is 3,399 yuan, reaching 4,699 yuan for the 16GB RAM/1TB variant. The exact pricing in India remains to be seen, with speculations around the ₹40,000 mark until the official reveal on January 7.
