Enchanting Bliss: Cultural Extravaganza Captivates on Day Six of Khangchendzonga Winter Tourism Festival
On December 31, 2024, the Khangchendzonga Winter Tourism Festival 2024 showcased a vibrant array of cultural dance performances on its sixth day, held at the school grounds of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School in Pelling. The festival, organized by the Pelling Tourism Development Association (PTDA) in collaboration with the District Administration of Gyalshing, received support from various local stakeholders, including the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, 14-Singyang-Chumbong GPU, Blue Rings Society (Pelling), hoteliers, NGOs, and the surrounding community.
The event was honored by the presence of Garap Dorjee Bhutia, BDO Gyalshing, as the chief guest, alongside Bhakta Bahadur Karki, the Chief Advisor and Founder of PTDA, who served as the guest of honor. Also attending were zilla members, panchayat presidents and members, prominent local figures like Dr. Tsheden Bhutia, Retired CMO, and National Awardee Hissay Zangpo Bhutia, along with various officials and dignitaries.
Upon arrival, the chief guest was warmly received by the organizing committee and guided through the numerous stalls by Keshav Pradhan, president of PTDA. These stalls showcased an array of traditional clothing, ethnic attire, local cuisines, beverages, and antiques, offering visitors a glance into the region’s rich cultural and artistic diversity.
Additionally, the day featured the Futsal Semi Finals, where Sindrabung FC emerged victorious against PTDA FC in the first match, while NCDS defeated Sardung United in the second matchup.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to the chief guest, the guest of honor, and other special invitees during the event. The day’s proceedings were expertly managed by Biren Pradhan, who served as the master of ceremonies. Overall, the festival’s sixth day was a vibrant celebration of heritage, community spirit, and sportsmanship.
