Passionate Plea for Cultural Heritage: Arunachal Governor Champions Preservation at IFCSAP’s Milestone 25th Anniversary
Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, graced the silver jubilee of the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) on December 28, 2024, in Itanagar. The event, a tribute to the rich cultural tapestry and unique identity of the state’s indigenous communities, began with the Governor offering prayers at the Universal Prayer Centre and honoring Golgi Bote Talom Rukbo, a venerated figure in indigenous faith and culture.
In his address, Governor Parnaik applauded IFCSAP’s pivotal role in preserving traditions and fostering societal harmony. He urged the community to contribute to the vision of “Viksit Arunachal” and the broader mission of “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. Emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation, he called for documenting rituals, prayers, oral histories, and creating repositories to safeguard indigenous heritage. The Governor also advocated for organizing workshops, seminars, and cultural exchanges to engage and educate the youth about their rich ancestral legacy.
Acknowledging notable contributions, the Governor presented the IFCSAP Excellent Award to Shri Techi Ako for his dedication to preserving indigenous culture. The event featured vibrant cultural presentations, reflecting the diverse heritage of Arunachal Pradesh’s tribal communities.
Prominent figures, including State Indigenous Affairs and Home Minister Shri Mama Natung, IFCSAP President Dr. Emi Rumi, Vice President Er. Pai Dawe, and General Secretary Smt. Maya Murtem, addressed the gathering. Prof. Yashwant Vishnupant Pathak, from the International Centre for Cultural Studies, shared valuable insights on cultural preservation.
The celebration underscored a collective call to action for safeguarding and celebrating the state’s indigenous heritage, while promoting unity among its diverse tribal communities. The event resonated with the commitment to preserve and celebrate the unique cultural identity of Arunachal Pradesh for future generations.
