Northeast Frontier Railway Triumphantly Restores Pre-COVID Train Services by January 2025!
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is set to reinstate its passenger trains to their pre-COVID numbering system beginning January 2025, as authorized by the Railway Board. This change affects all NFR-owned trains, transitioning them from the current ‘0’ numbering back to their original identifiers.
The NFR’s restoration impacts 60 pairs of passenger trains, maintaining their previous operational frequency. Specifically, 4 pairs will operate under the Tinsukia Division, 19 pairs from Lumding Division, 10 pairs from Rangiya Division, 6 pairs from Alipurduar Division, and the largest group, 21 pairs, will run from Katihar Division.
Travelers can access comprehensive details regarding train schedules and stops on the IRCTC’s website and N. F. Railway’s social media channels. The NFR advises passengers to confirm details before their journeys to ensure smooth travel plans.
Included among the restored services are train numbers like 55909/55910 connecting Simaluguri Jn. and Dibrugarh in Tinsukia Division, 55603/55604 running between Guwahati and Mairabari in Lumding Division, 55619/55620 servicing Mendipathar to Guwahati in Rangiya Division, 55421/55422 operating from Malda Town to Balurghat in Alipurduar Division, and 55727/55728 connecting Katihar to Radhikapur in Katihar Division. Each of these trains will resume their original service routines from the new year, providing improved access and comfort for regional travelers.
