Shock & Relief: Two Notorious NSCN (IM) Cadres Captured Amid Extortion Scandal in Arunachal’s Changlang

In a strategic pre-dawn operation, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended two active cadres of the NSCN (IM) involved in extortion. Acting on precise intelligence, this operation was executed at 3 a.m. on December 26 in the Rima area of Changlang district. The effort was a coordinated venture involving personnel from the 11 PARA (Special Forces), 10 Assam Rifles, and the Changlang Police, spearheaded by Sub Mahesh Singh of 11 PARA (SF).

The apprehended individuals are identified as SS Lt. Roney Rai, also known as Tutu, aged 31, from Jairampur in Changlang, and SS Sgt Maj. Anong Singpho, aged 30, from Pengri, Tinsukia, Assam. Their capture is linked to ongoing extortion activities targeting local businessmen and shopkeepers, contributing significantly to regional unrest.

Upon their capture, authorities recovered crucial evidence, including a .32mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition, a Nagamese sickle (dah), a wallet, a PAN card, a Tecno mobile phone, and a SIM card. These items are expected to provide substantial insight into their operations and affiliations.
