Experience the Wonder: Kaziranga’s Heartwarming Xmas Gift – A Rare Golden Tiger Cub Unveiled!
Visitors at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) experienced a memorable Christmas Eve gift when they spotted a rare golden tiger cub, along with its mother and two siblings, in the park’s Kohora range. The unusual sighting, reported by tourist guides Bitopon Gogoi and Tosib Ali with a group from Maharashtra, underscores Kaziranga’s reputation for exotic wildlife.
Experts attribute the golden cub’s appearance to genetic mutation. Sunit Kumar Das, a researcher with WWF-India, explained that the reduced melanin in the tiger’s fur leads to its unique color, a natural phenomenon without deformities. This recent sighting might be linked to a golden tiger seen last year, suggesting possible genetic lineage, although further studies are needed for confirmation.
Arun Vignesh, the Divisional Forest Officer of Kaziranga, highlighted that this rare sighting will likely boost tourism, as Kaziranga is the only known habitat for golden tigers in India. The park continues to attract international travelers with its diverse wildlife and unique species sightings, promising even greater interest in the future.
This extraordinary event reinforces Kaziranga’s standing as a premier destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers worldwide.
