Agartala, December 21, 2024: In a significant achievement against drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles, working in collaboration with the Customs Department and Tripura Police, successfully intercepted a massive drug consignment in the Dhalai District’s Gandacharra area. Valued at an astonishing Rs 78 crore, the seized consignment consisted of 3.9 lakh yaba tablets—a potent synthetic drug with a high street value in the international market.
This meticulously planned operation was executed following precise intelligence inputs from reliable sources. On the evening of December 20, at around 6 PM, security forces apprehended Rakesh Miya, a 33-year-old resident of Melaghar, Sonamura. Miya was transporting the illegal consignment approximately 35 kilometers from Teliamura when he was intercepted by the vigilant team.
The operation, concluding by 8 PM, has been hailed as a major triumph in the ongoing battle against drug networks in the region. According to a press release from the Assam Rifles, this successful bust not only disrupts the regional drug trafficking operations but also underscores the extraordinary dedication and intelligence skills of the security forces involved.
