One Year On: Nagaland’s Education Portals Thrive While Business Sites Stall – An Inspiring MorungExpress Insight
A recent assessment by The Morung Express of government websites in Nagaland reveals a mixed digital landscape, with noticeable progress in educational and recruitment platforms but stagnation in many business-related websites. Conducted a year after a similar review, the latest evaluation, dated December 21, 2024, highlights persistent issues on business and economic activity portals. Key platforms, including those related to boards, corporations, and regulatory bodies, largely remain outdated and ineffective due to limited updates.
The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) website exemplifies this stagnation, having no visible updates since October 2023, with its most recent activity dated April 2022. Similarly, the Nagaland Startup and Ease of Doing Business portals have shown little progress, maintaining outdated content. Despite some structural improvements, the Fostering Climate Resilient Upland Farming Systems (FOCUS) portal continues to offer subpar data quality.
In contrast, the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Nagaland’s website, and the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board portal stand out for their up-to-date and organized content. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) site remains a valuable resource.
However, accessibility issues persist, with non-functional links on the Nagaland State Portal and missing department pages like the Department of Women Resource Development. Despite these gaps, independent searches found functional and updated sites for Mission Shakti and DWRD.
Conversely, educational and recruitment sites under the Nagaland Government demonstrate substantial improvement. The Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), and Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) portals consistently update with relevant information for citizens. The Nagaland Education Project, supported by the World Bank, also mirrors these advancements, alongside updated resources from the State Council of Educational Research and Training and the Administrative Training Institute. Nonetheless, some educational sites, like the State Institute of Rural Development, remain static, underscoring the need for continued digital development across sectors.
