Two individuals, Mofidul Islam and Asadul Ali from Khorishalar, Barpeta, were apprehended by locals while attempting to steal from a mobile tower located at Ranjit Kalita’s residence in the Aohata area of Baksa, Assam. The incident occurred around 1 AM when the duo was caught red-handed by vigilant residents.
Upon descending from their unsuccessful heist, the thieves were met with outrage from local residents who were angered by the attempted theft. The crowd swiftly took action, resorting to physical force against the two men. The tense situation persisted until law enforcement authorities arrived, promptly arresting Islam and Ali.
Authorities have disclosed that these individuals have a history of similar thefts at other mobile tower sites within the region, underscoring a pattern of criminal activity.
