Manipur Government Strongly Refutes Misleading Kuki-Zo Council Claims: A Call for Vigilance and Unity

The Government of Manipur has firmly responded to claims made by the Kuki-Zo Council, asserting that this organization is not recognized within the state. Investigations revealed no official presence of such a group, with its purported headquarters in Lamka—a district that does not exist in Manipur—raising doubts about its authenticity and foreign origins.

Owing to heightened security concerns, particularly with the entry of individuals from neighboring countries, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has reinstated the Protected Area Regime in Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. This measure mandates that foreigners obtain Protected Area Permits (PAP) to enter these regions, in accordance with the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order of 1958, ensuring that movements are under close surveillance.

Local law enforcement is investigating the issue, preparing to file a First Information Report (FIR) to scrutinize the motives and veracity of these misleading claims. Authorities have cautioned the residents of Manipur against trusting dubious entities aimed at inciting confusion and disorder.

The Manipur government has reiterated its dedication to preserving peace and social unity, urging citizens to seek information from trusted sources only. Moreover, it appealed to media outlets, both national and local, to avoid disseminating press releases from unverified organizations or individuals.

With restoring peace and community harmony as a primary goal, the government stressed that actions potentially undermining this objective would not be tolerated.

In a related update, the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has denied allegations from Manipur police concerning an incident dating back to December 14. The government’s vigilance and proactive measures underscore its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the region’s stability.
