Agartala, December 18, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested three women in connection with a brutal assault on TTE Atul Kaushik at Manu Railway Station, Dhalai District. The arrests followed a thorough investigation aided by video evidence from the scene.
The accused, identified as Rubina Chakma (21) from Pechartal Aadhar Chhara, Rajnamukhi Chakma (30) from Lal Chhara, and Bina Chakma (35) from Pechartal Jubolichhara, were allegedly part of a group involved in illegal banana transportation using passenger trains. The incident erupted when TTE Kaushik stopped them for questioning. Upon facing inquiries about their activities, they revealed habitual use of passenger services for such purposes. Despite their explanations, Kaushik imposed a fine of Rs 3000.
This action incited a violent response, culminating in a severe physical attack on Kaushik by the mentioned women and their accomplices. Sustaining serious injuries, Kaushik required immediate medical care.
Post-incident, Kaushik filed a complaint leading to an exhaustive GRP investigation. Video footage was instrumental in identifying the perpetrators, resulting in these arrests. However, the pursuit of other suspects continues as they remain at large.
This incident has highlighted ongoing issues around the misuse of railway services, prompting calls for heightened security measures.
