Discover the Magic: Aaranyak’s 8th ‘Nature’s Wonderland’ Unveils Urban Biodiversity in Guwahati!
Aaranyak, a prominent biodiversity conservation organization, held the eighth edition of its initiative, “Nature’s Wonderland—A Journey of Curiosity,” on December 15 in Guwahati, attracting attention towards urban biodiversity. The event was a collaboration with the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden and Wipro Earthian, aiming to reconnect the urban populace with nature.
This engaging program welcomed 30 participants, comprising students and their parents, to delve into the wonders of urban biodiversity. Throughout the day, attendees were enriched by interactive sessions led by distinguished experts. Among the speakers were Pranjal Mahananda, a biologist with the Assam State Zoo; Dr. Jayaditya Purkayastha, a herpetologist and Help Earth CEO; Abhisek Sarkar, a GIS specialist from Aaranyak; and Nitul Kalita, project officer at Aaranyak’s Tiger Research & Conservation Division.
The discussions provided valuable insights into the importance of urban green spaces, the impacts of climate change on local wildlife, and the critical need for conservation efforts driven by community involvement. By engaging participants with these pivotal topics, the event successfully highlighted the relevance of understanding and preserving urban biodiversity in Guwahati’s fast-developing landscape.
