Breaking: Shocking Revelations as CBI Files Five More Chargesheets Against 18 Accused
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its crackdown on investment scams in Assam, filing five additional chargesheets against 18 individuals and two companies. With this, the total number of chargesheets related to these scams now stands at nine. The accused allegedly enticed investors with promises of high annual returns, often exceeding 15%, using deceptive strategies that included notarized loan agreements and the establishment of cooperative societies.
Among those charged is Hemen Rava, accused of inducing unsuspecting individuals into fraudulent loan agreements, subsequently diverting funds for personal use. Equally implicated are members of the Brahmaputra Sanchay & Biniyog Cooperative Society Ltd (BSBCSL), including ex-chairman Jiten Deka. They are accused of misappropriating deposits through the “Grihalakshmi” scheme that falsely promised attractive returns.
Further, several individuals—Mainao Brahma, Dipankar Bhatta, Jyotisman Sarma, and Sumit Barman—are accused of orchestrating an unregulated deposit scheme to siphon off invested funds. A separate case involves Rishiraj Gogoi and Joy Modak from Go Millions LLP, who purportedly collected funds under a cosmetic business pretext but failed to invest as promised.
Also under scrutiny are Sankar Kumar Biswas, Rofiqul Islam, Dinesh Ch. Ray, and Niranjan Kumar Malakar linked to Titan Capital Market, accused of not delivering on commitments to investors.
The CBI’s investigation has been instrumental in retrieving databases that helped identify victims, with all accused currently in judicial custody. This operation underscores the CBI’s dedication to battling financial fraud and safeguarding investor interests, serving as a strong warning against engaging in illicit financial activities. The investigation highlights the need for vigilance and careful evaluation when considering investment opportunities.
