Thrilling Triumph: Dhemaji Bought Leaf Factories Rejoice as CTC Tea Dominates Assam’s November Price Charts!
In November, Bought Leaf Factories (BLFs) in Assam’s Dhemaji district achieved notable success, with their CTC tea fetching the highest prices among districts in the state, according to the Tea Board of India. Dhemaji’s BLFs averaged Rs 245.51 per kg at tea auctions, outperforming other districts. Sivasagar came in second with Rs 228.28 per kg, followed by Lakhimpur at Rs 227.20 per kg. Other notable prices included Bongaigaon at Rs 223.31, Cachar at Rs 221.24, and Dibrugarh at Rs 219.86 per kg. Key districts such as Jorhat and Karbi Anglong realized prices of Rs 217.83 and Rs 217.59, respectively. Despite Darjeeling’s historic reputation for unique tea, its auction prices lagged behind, with the Darjeeling (Hills) district selling at Rs 169 per kg and the Darjeeling (Plains) district at Rs 171.34 per kg. BLFs primarily manufacture tea from green leaves sourced from small growers, lacking their own gardens. Assam tea remains prized for its strong, brisk, and full-bodied nature, securing its prime position in the market.
