Fiery Accusation: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Slams BJP for Derailing Parliamentary Proceedings
Congress leader and Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deliberately obstructing parliamentary proceedings to sidestep discussions on crucial issues. Gogoi expressed his concerns during a media interaction, stating, “In both Houses, the ruling party is systematically halting proceedings, and we haven’t had a chance to speak in the Lok Sabha since last Thursday. The government is avoiding any discussions.”
On December 9, Gogoi criticized the BJP for allegedly “derailing” Parliament, referencing instances involving BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Dubey had accused the Congress of colluding with U.S. billionaire investor George Soros to undermine India’s success under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gogoi highlighted the Congress party’s efforts to address the issue, mentioning that they have repeatedly submitted letters to the Speaker, requesting privilege proceedings against Dubey, but these requests have been ignored. “All our pleas have been ignored, allowing the BJP MP to continue with his rants,” Gogoi remarked.
He further noted that Dubey’s name remains on the list of speakers, emphasizing that the BJP’s actions appear to aim at disrupting parliamentary functions. This ongoing conflict highlights the tension between the opposition and the ruling party, as both sides accuse each other of hindering India’s legislative process.
