Experience the Joyous Magic: First Advent Christmas Service Ignites Spirit at Hornbill Festival – Guwahati News
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio urged people to focus on the essence of Christmas, embodied by Jesus Christ, during his address at the Advent Christmas devotional service at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, amid the Hornbill Festival celebrations. Emphasizing the first-ever Advent Christmas celebration at this venue, Rio highlighted the event’s special nature, coinciding with the 25th Hornbill Festival. He assured attendees that the celebration would enrich the Christmas spirit, showcasing the interconnectedness of spiritual, indigenous, and political identities. He encouraged embracing the Christian values of tolerance, forgiveness, and goodwill during the season.
The event was organized by the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF), to whom Rio expressed his gratitude. Rev. Zelhou Keyho, NJCF adviser, reiterated the importance of Jesus Christ’s birth and urged attendees to reflect on Christmas’s true meaning amidst personal challenges. He reminded them that Christmas highlights God’s presence among people, not Santa Claus, encouraging joy, peace, and goodwill.
The devotional service featured musical performances by the Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church from Kohima, the Nagaland Chamber Choir, the Khedi Baptist Church from Kohima Village, and Live Voice from CRC Viswema, creating a festive and spiritual atmosphere.
