Tripura has achieved a significant milestone by securing seven national-level panchayat awards in various categories, as announced by Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday. These accolades include Best District for Gomati, Second Best Rural Development Block for Amarpur, and Best Women-friendly Panchayat for Dakshin Manubankul in South Tripura. This commendable feat stands out among the 2.50 lakh gram panchayats across the country, underscoring Tripura’s commitment to excellence in rural governance.
In a Facebook post, Saha expressed pride in this historic achievement and highlighted that President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan on December 11. The recognition will be accompanied by substantial cash prizes, including Rs 5 crore for Gomati district, Rs 1.75 crore for Amarpur, and Rs 1 crore for Dakshin Manubankul.
These awards, valued at a total of Rs 10 crore, reflect the state government’s dedication to promoting good governance and improving the lives of its citizens. Chief Minister Saha congratulated the elected representatives, officials, and employees of the Panchayati Raj institutions for their significant contributions leading to this success.
In other developments, Saha met with Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai to explore potential investment opportunities in the state. This dual focus on recognition and development positions Tripura as a forward-thinking region, committed to growth and empowerment.
