Nagaland Wrestlers Off to Compete in National Championship
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has announced that a team comprising five wrestlers and two officials will represent the state at the Senior National Wrestling Championship 2024. The prestigious event is set to take place in Bengaluru, Karnataka, from December 6 to 8.
In a press statement, NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho revealed that the contingent, led by NWA President Vivolie Kezo as Team Director and Kikhwesul Thokhwe as Team Coach, departed for Bengaluru on December 4. The participating wrestlers include Kusayi Tsutso (74 Kg), Nutso Yhobu (57 Kg), Nosezonu Kuotsu (50 Kg), Vikono Kezo (55 Kg), and Vizoseno Kiso (57 Kg).
In a show of support and solidarity, a prayer fellowship was organized on December 3 in Kohima, where wrestlers, coaching staff, NWA officials, and well-wishers gathered for a moment of reflection and encouragement. The dinner event underscored the community’s support for the wrestlers as they embark on this significant sports endeavor.
The NWA has called on the community to keep the team in their thoughts and prayers, emphasizing the importance of collective support for the athletes. The team is scheduled to return to Nagaland on December 10.
