In Dibrugarh, members of the Hindu Kranti Dal (HKD) took to the streets in a demonstration against the alleged persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, following the arrest of an Iskcon priest. Protesters began their march at the Hanuman temple near the old Dibrugarh railway station and continued to the Thana Chariali traffic point, closely monitored by security personnel to ensure peace. Once there, they intensified their protest by burning an effigy of Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government. The demonstrators, led by HKD state president Prakash Rai, expressed their intolerance towards the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, describing it as a threat to the global Hindu community. They urged immediate cessation of these atrocities and called on the Indian government to intervene.
Simultaneously, in Agartala, the Hindu Sangharsh Samity held a similar protest against the alleged oppression of minorities in Bangladesh, specifically highlighting the detention of Iskcon member Chinmoy Das. The group warned that continued violence could deteriorate bilateral relations and emphasized the need for Bangladesh’s interim government to take responsibility for the rising attacks on Hindus. BJP leader Subal Bhowmik participated in the protest, attributing the escalation to Bangladesh’s administration.
In Hyderabad, ISKCON devotees and other Hindu organizations also voiced their discontent, protesting against the arrest of priest Chinmoy Krishna Das and condemning the religious persecution in Bangladesh. They demanded the priest’s release and raised concerns about illegal immigration from Bangladesh into India, pressing for government action to resolve the issue and ensure the safety of the Hindu community. These synchronized protests underscore a growing demand for regional stability and protection of minority rights.
