Urgent Call to Action: Centre Must Resolve NEHU Issues for the Sake of Our Students’ Future – Rakkam Sangma

Shillong, Dec 2: In light of the ongoing unrest at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Education Minister Rakkam Sangma has urged the Central Government to address the issues affecting the university to prioritize student welfare. Tensions are high as students demand the removal of the Vice Chancellor and other allegedly illegally appointed officials.

Minister Sangma emphasized that while the Meghalaya Government’s influence over the Central University is limited, the Ministry is fully informed about the situation. He insisted that the Central Government needs to promptly take action that serves the students’ best interests, underscoring the importance of listening to the students’ concerns, irrespective of the validity of their demands.

The situation calls for immediate intervention to prevent further disruption in NEHU and ensure a conducive learning environment for the students.
