Urgent Alert: Cyclone Fengal Forces Train Cancellations in Tamil Nadu – Plan Your Travel!
Southern Railway has announced the cancellation and short termination of several train services in the Tiruchirapalli Division due to severe flooding and the suspension of Bridge 452 between Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam. On December 2, 2024, the Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur Express (Train No. 16127) scheduled to depart Chennai Egmore at 9:45 a.m. has been fully cancelled.
Several trains that began their journey on December 1 faced disruptions. The Kakinada Port – Pondicherry Express (Train No. 17655), which departed from Kakinada Port at 2:30 p.m., and the Kacheguda – Pondicherry Express, starting from Kacheguda at 5 p.m., will be short-terminated at Chengalpattu. Additionally, the Kanniyakumari – Chennai Egmore Express (Train No. 12634), which departed Kanniyakumari at 5:50 p.m., is being rerouted via Villupuram and Katpadi, bypassing stops at Tindivanam, Melmaruvathur, Chengalpattu, Tambaram, and Mambalam. Similarly, the Madurai – Chennai Egmore Pandian Express (Train No. 12638), which departed Madurai at 9:30 p.m., will follow a similar diversion, omitting stops at Chengalpattu, Tambaram, and Mambalam.
