Breaking: United Front in Maharashtra! Devendra Fadnavis Declares Unwavering Harmony – Live Updates
Maharashtra’s political landscape is abuzz as deliberations for the Chief Minister position continue following the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s commanding triumph in the state assembly elections. The alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, is yet to finalize its choice for the Chief Minister role, despite the election results being announced on November 23.
Outgoing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, engaged in crucial discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday night in Delhi. The talks centered on the power-sharing arrangement among the alliance partners. Further meetings were held with BJP National President JP Nadda and Amit Shah, with Shinde describing the discussions as “good and positive.” Another meeting is slated to determine the final decision for the Chief Minister’s post.
Devendra Fadnavis is perceived as a strong contender for the position, given his track record of leading the BJP to secure over 100 seats for the third consecutive time in the 288-member assembly. Fadnavis reassured the public and media that there are no internal conflicts within the Mahayuti alliance, reaffirming that the decision regarding the Chief Minister’s post will be a collective one, as promised before the elections. He emphasized that the alliance has consistently maintained a unified front despite doubts from some quarters.
The BJP emerged as the largest party, clinching 132 seats, with its allies Shiv Sena, led by Shinde, and NCP, led by Pawar, winning 57 and 41 seats, respectively. The current phase of negotiations includes discussions on the allocation of ministerial positions among the parties, an aspect confirmed by NCP leader Ajit Pawar. The anticipation grows as the alliance gears up to finalize its leadership, with further meetings expected soon to settle the top post in Maharashtra’s government.
