Empowered and Indispensable: Women Transform Nagaland’s Workforce, Celebrated by Governor | Inspiring Guwahati News
In a recent seminar hosted at the State Academy hall in Kohima by the Entrepreneur Associates, Nagaland Governor La Ganesan highlighted the significant role of women in the state’s unorganized sector. According to the 2021 e-Shram portal report, women account for over half of the workforce within this sector, which engages approximately 8% of Nagaland’s population. Ganesan emphasized that these women, often depicted as unsung heroines, play crucial roles not only as contributors but frequently as primary breadwinners for their families.
The governor commended their resilience and dedication, acknowledging their impact on the socio-economic landscape of both the state and the nation. Despite their contributions, women in the informal sector face numerous challenges, such as inconsistent income, insufficient infrastructure, and limited access to financial services. Ganesan stressed the importance of raising awareness and providing education regarding governmental welfare schemes designed to support these workers.
Furthermore, Ganesan expressed his gratitude towards the Entrepreneur Associates for their dedication to promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable development within the state. He noted that such efforts are vital in building a stronger, more inclusive Nagaland and India. The seminar underscored the need for continued support and advocacy to overcome the obstacles faced by women in the unorganized sector and to harness their potential for national progress.
