Urgent and Compassionate Joint Operation Launched to Rescue Missing 54-Year-Old Man
Imphal: A 54-year-old man, Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, has gone missing after reportedly heading to work at the Leimakhong Army Camp on November 25. This camp is located along the border of Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts. Singh, a construction supervisor under the Military Engineering Services (MES), was last seen on CCTV entering the camp, with his mobile phone disconnecting at 2:23 pm that same day.
In response to his disappearance, the Indian Army and Manipur police have launched a joint rescue operation. The decision for prompt action follows significant protests by local Meitei women demanding Singh’s safe return. These protests have led to brief confrontations with military personnel, highlighting the growing tension in the region.
Singh’s family, particularly his elder brother, have been actively seeking assistance, having filed a formal complaint with the Sekmai police station. The community is anxiously awaiting developments in the search, emphasizing the seriousness and urgency of the situation.
This incident adds to the complex narrative of security and civilian interactions in Northeast India, drawing attention to the sensitive nature of Army-civilian relationships. Updates on developments are keenly anticipated as efforts to locate Singh continue.
