Chilling Exposé: Unraveling the Sordid Saga of Seppa Hospital Murders
On November 25th, Seppa witnessed a horrific incident at the district hospital where four individuals were killed by a man named Nikam Sangbia. The violence unfolded on November 14th, when Sangbia went on a dao assault spree within the hospital premises. Swift action by the authorities, led by Inspector Minli Geyi and Constable Jimkam Khomrang, resulted in the arrest of the suspect. Constable Khomrang managed to subdue Sangbia as he attempted to flee, thereby preventing further casualties.
East Kameng SP Kamdam Sikom lauded the officers’ efforts, asserting that their quick response saved numerous lives. An investigation into the tragic event is underway, with forensic evidence collected and sent for analysis. Preliminary findings reveal that the attack stemmed from a domestic dispute. Sangbia first killed his wife, Tade Sangbia, and their two-year-old daughter, Mekhya Sangbia. Additional victims included Fei Beyong, a chowkidar, and Paka Welly Tallang, an attendant.
On the day of the attack, Sangbia had brought his injured wife to the hospital following a previous assault. Upon his arrival, he turned violent, committing the subsequent murders. The 42-year-old accused is cooperating with the police. Unemployed and with a previously failed marriage, the suspect’s personal troubles were a noted backdrop to the tragedy.
Six individuals were injured during the incident, including Inspector Geyi, though four sustained minor injuries. Those seriously injured received treatment at hospitals outside of Seppa. In a community response, the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) held a silent candlelight march on November 16th to honor the victims. The EKSWCO also sought justice for those affected and encouraged peace within the district community. This incident has deeply impacted Seppa, drawing attention to the urgent need for conflict resolution and mental health support.
