Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio assessed the progress of preparations for the 25th Hornbill Festival 2024 at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on November 23. The inspection covered the ongoing construction of key areas, including the Bamboo Pavilion and the main arena. Accompanying Rio, Industries & Commerce Advisor Hekani Jakhalu detailed the physical progress at the Bamboo Pavilion, while state tourism officials confirmed that preparations are proceeding rapidly, operating around the clock in two shifts.
Earlier, a crucial meeting was convened at Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima, led by Chief Minister Rio. Attended by heads of various departments, the meeting reviewed overall festival preparations. There, Rio proposed enhancements to the venue’s visual appeal and organized food arrangements, ensuring the timely inauguration of several projects leading up to the festival.
Highlighting the cultural significance of the event, Rio launched a commemorative coin and a festival booklet to mark the milestone 25th edition. Following up on cultural activities, Rio’s advisor, Abu Metha, shared details of the Hornbill Music Festival, which runs alongside the main event, showcasing diverse musical bands.
Infrastructure concerns were also addressed, with Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang discussing measures to ensure the national highway’s viability before the festival, despite natural calamities impacting road conditions. It was a call to action for related departments to expedite repairs.
Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along announced the impending launch of the Tourism Hornbill Festival mobile app, designed to enhance visitor experience. Chief Secretary J Alam provided insights into logistical preparations, covering essentials like roads, water, and power supply, emphasizing strategies for smooth transportation during the festival.
Following the meeting, officials, including the Chief Secretary and Home Commissioner, conducted inspections at the airport and railway station to oversee ongoing infrastructural work. This comprehensive effort reflects the state’s dedication to making the Hornbill Festival a seamless and memorable experience.
