New Delhi, November 23 (IANS): A controversial video featuring former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has sparked debate after he claimed his wife’s breast cancer was treated by abstaining from dairy and sugar, relying instead on turmeric and neem. In the video, widely shared on social media, Sidhu suggested dietary changes as a cure, mentioning that his wife maintained a daily eating schedule from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
However, oncologists from the Tata Memorial Hospital have issued a cautionary statement, emphasizing that diet alone is not an effective treatment for cancer. In a post shared on platform X, the doctors clarified that while nutrition is vital for supporting cancer treatments and improving outcomes, a comprehensive approach involving medical interventions such as surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies is essential. They further explained that though dietary changes can bolster the effectiveness of these treatments by targeting cancer pathways and improving overall health, there is no scientific evidence to support the notion that diet alone can cure cancer.
The Tata Memorial doctors noted that claims like Sidhu’s lack robust scientific backing. While ongoing research explores the potential benefits of certain foods, there is currently no clinical data to endorse them as anti-cancer agents. The doctors strongly advised against postponing proven medical treatments for unverified remedies and urged individuals with cancer symptoms to seek advice from qualified specialists.
