Chinmayi Sripaada Boldly Exposes the Unjust Omission of Sai Pallavi and Dhee from Amaran and Rowdy Baby’s Triumph Posters
In an expressive online post, renowned singer Chinmayi Sripaada has spotlighted the lack of female representation on the success posters for two major projects: Rajkumar Periasamy’s action film “Amaran” and the chart-topping song “Rowdy Baby” from Balaji Mohan’s 2018 blockbuster “Maari 2.” Taking to her X handle, Chinmayi shared her disappointment with the exclusion of female artists like Sai Pallavi and Dhee from these promotional visuals.
Chinmayi’s post featured two specific posters: one celebrating “Rowdy Baby” reaching a remarkable 1 billion views on YouTube, showcasing actor-singer Dhanush in his signature all-black attire and an electric guitar. Another promotional poster presented Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan, touting “Amaran” as a “mega blockbuster,” with ₹300 crore earnings within 19 days. Despite these achievements, Chinmayi emphasized the absence of Sai Pallavi and the omission of Dhee’s contribution to the success of “Rowdy Baby.”
The call for greater female recognition ignited a vigorous debate on X. While many supported Chinmayi’s views, others disagreed, suggesting the “Rowdy Baby” poster might be fan-made and pointing out official versions featuring Sai Pallavi with Dhanush. One user humorously advised Chinmayi to verify her facts first, which she countered by explaining the widespread circulation of the poster lacking female representation. Another user argued that Shivakarthikeyan’s star power justified his solo appearance on the “Amaran” poster. They compared this to the Bollywood success of “Stree 2,” which attributed its monumental ₹600 crore earnings to Shraddha Kapoor’s role instead of her male co-star, Rajkummar Rao.
Chinmayi dismissed this defense, noting the limited screen time for female leads in the industry, further underscoring the systemic bias against recognizing the contributions of women in entertainment successes.
