T.N. Government Expresses Disappointment Over Vedanta’s Missing Tungsten Mining Application
The Tamil Nadu government has clarified that it has not granted permission to Vedanta for tungsten mining near the Arittapatti Biodiversity Heritage Site in Madurai. Despite the Union government allotting 2015.51 hectares for mining, the State has yet to receive any application from Vedanta. Political leaders, including CPI(M) MP Su. Venkatesan and PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss, along with environmentalists, have opposed the mining proposal. State officials are reviewing the allocated areas and the criteria under which they were assigned.
