Shocking: Justice Sought for Law Student Brutally Attacked in Vizag – Four Suspects Detained
In a distressing incident in Visakhapatnam, a 21-year-old law student was reportedly gang-raped by four individuals, including her boyfriend, police reported on November 19, 2024. Although the attack occurred on August 13, details only emerged after the victim’s parents filed a complaint at the II Town police station. The accused, identified as B. Vamsi (27), B. Jagadeesh (27), P. Anand (28), and D. Rajesh, were arrested the same day. Vamsi, the victim’s boyfriend, allegedly lured her under the pretense of marriage and, along with the others, threatened her with a compromising video before assaulting her. The victim attempted suicide on November 18 due to the ongoing harassment, prompting her father to approach the police.
Home Minister V. Anitha has instructed Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi to ensure severe punishment for the perpetrators and promised full support for the victim. Meanwhile, YSRCP women’s wing president Varudu Kalyani criticized the NDA government for its failure to protect women, citing a rise in crimes and urging a focus on reinstating protective measures like the Disha app. The incident underscores an urgent need for improved safety for women.
