Mumbai, Nov 18: Celebrated actress Dipika Chikhlia, renowned for her iconic role as Sita in the classic television adaptation “Ramayan,” recently captivated her fans by sharing a personal glimpse of her visit to the majestic Brahmaputra River on social media. In a charming video, Dipika stands with the tranquil river as her backdrop, clearly elated by the encounter with one of India’s most significant rivers. The actress shared the clip on her Instagram account, captioning it simply with, “Assam Brahmaputra river #river#nature #assam,” and enthusiastically states in the video, “Behind me is the Brahmaputra River. I was thrilled to see it! This river originates from Mansarovar and flows through China, Bangladesh, and Assam.”
The Brahmaputra River, originating in Tibet near the Mansarovar Lake, is celebrated for its vastness and cultural importance. Known as the Yarlung Tsangpo River in China, it wends its way into India at Arunachal Pradesh, courses through Assam, and ultimately finds its path to Bangladesh.
In related engagements, Dipika Chikhlia, along with her “Ramayan” co-star Arun Govil, recently had the honor of inaugurating the 91st Raas festival at Sri Sri Hari Mandir in Nalbari, Assam, which featured an enriching 13-day program. Chikhlia, who saw national prominence in the late ’80s with her portrayal of the revered Goddess Sita, began her cinematic journey in 1983 with “Sun Meri Laila,” starring opposite Raj Kiran, followed by notable performances in Hindi cinema alongside Rajesh Khanna, with films like “Rupaye Dus Karod,” “Ghar Ka Chiraag,” and “Khudai.” Her diverse filmography includes memorable roles across Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Bengali cinema.
Earlier this year, Chikhlia voiced her thoughts on modern adaptations of “Ramayana” while nostalgically reflecting on her defining role as Sita, expressing apprehension over the frequent remakes of the epic and urging respect for religious scriptures.
