Urgent: MP Mokariya’s Passionate Plea to Rajkot Collector to Address PMGKY Scheme Leakage | Ahmedabad News
Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader Ram Mokariya has highlighted concerns regarding the “inferior” quality of food grains distributed under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKY) in Rajkot. He has urged an investigation into potential supply chain issues leading to alleged adulteration. During a meeting with Rajkot District Collector Prabhav Joshi, Mokariya presented samples of rice, dal, wheat, and gram, obtained from beneficiaries, to emphasize the quality issues, which included worm-infested grains, broken rice, and undersized chana.
Mokariya stressed the importance of providing quality grains to the beneficiaries, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to offer free food grains to 80 crore poor citizens across India. He questioned whether the leakage occurred at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) or at the distribution points, and called for accountability for those responsible.
The free distribution scheme, introduced during the pandemic, has been extended and will continue from January 1, 2024, for five years, benefiting approximately 81.35 crore people. Mokariya’s call for action underscores the need for quality control in this significant welfare initiative.
