Hyderabad – In a recent media interaction during the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), Telangana’s Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Tamil Nadu’s Minister for IT and Digital Services Palanivel Thiaga Rajan announced their intent to collaborate and learn from each other’s experiences in the thriving gaming sector. This partnership aims to leverage India’s growing presence in the global gaming industry by seizing the burgeoning opportunities available.
Both Ministers emphasized the importance of gaining support from the Central government to aid their efforts. Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted Telangana’s ambition to host a regional center for the Indian Institute of Creative Technology in Hyderabad, while outlining plans to introduce a new Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) policy by January. Additionally, Telangana will establish a hub of innovation in the third quarter of 2025 to foster R&D, innovation, and support for startups, with emphasis on strengthening the venture capital ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu plans to unveil its first-ever AVGC policy, aiming to tap into the significant potential within the sector.
