Empowering Change: Indian Youth Congress Unveils Dynamic Membership Drive and Elections in Meghalaya
The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has announced a groundbreaking move to hold internal membership and organizational elections in Meghalaya, encompassing the Assembly, district, and state levels. This initiative is poised to redefine political leadership selection in India by electing young, dynamic leaders based on their support within the organization, which aligns with the vision of All India Congress Committee President, Rahul Gandhi.
IYC National President Uday Bhanu Chib emphasized that the elections mark a pivotal moment in Indian politics, as it will be the first instance when young leaders in the party will be directly elected by members. This historic step aims to showcase genuine democracy in action.
The membership and election process begins with a registration phase, allowing young individuals to join the IYC. Potential candidates can also enlist their supporters as active members through the newly launched “With IYC” mobile app. Ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process, Zonal and State Returning Officers will oversee all stages, from nominations to voting. The IYC is also committed to inclusivity, making special provisions for women and marginalized groups to participate fully.
Uday Bhanu Chib reiterated the IYC’s dedication to inclusivity and equality, providing opportunities for all youth to engage in and shape the nation’s future. The initiative is designed to empower every young person, regardless of background, to actively participate in politics.
The timeline for the elections includes a nomination period from November 16 to 20, with membership registration already open via the “With IYC” app. Updates, including further election details, will be available on the IYC’s official website. Orientation and training sessions for potential candidates will also be conducted to guide them through the election process and leadership pathways in the Youth Congress and the broader Congress Party.
The IYC is calling upon youth passionate about public service to engage in this transformative event, ensuring fair and transparent elections grounded in democratic principles.
