Urgent: Secure W’nagar Girls’ Nursing Hostel with a Strong Boundary Wall – Act Now!
The Garo Hills Youth Solidarity (GHYS) has raised concerns over the subpar condition of the boundary wall surrounding the Girls’ Nursing Hostel in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills. The organization has appealed to the District Medical & Health Officer (DMHO) to ensure the immediate repair of the wall to safeguard the residents. GHYS General Secretary, Eric Bunty Marak, highlighted the existing vulnerabilities at the hostel, which poses a significant risk to the students’ safety. He emphasized that the wall, being crucial for security, has been neglected for years.
Marak further stressed that the hostel’s surroundings are frequently accessed, suggesting an urgent need to bolster security measures. He pointed out that enhancing the boundary wall would provide long-overdue protection to the residents. Additionally, GHYS has proposed the installation of CCTV cameras and employing security guards to ensure a safe and secure environment for the hostel’s inhabitants.
The organization’s appeal reflects a strong commitment to ensuring the safety of nursing students, urging local authorities to take prompt action. GHYS’s efforts aim to not only address the infrastructural shortcomings but also to underline the importance of a secure living environment for students.
This call to action by GHHS underscores the critical need for infrastructure improvement in educational institutions, stressing that authorities must prioritize student safety. The condition of the boundary wall is not just a physical barrier but a significant factor in safeguarding the students and ensuring their well-being. The matter, now in the hands of the DMHO, awaits a response that could effectively address this pressing concern in East Garo Hills.
